Visiting my local Australia Post office I was browsing their gift range when I picked up one of Studio Lowana's shopping bags. I have to say I was drawn to the beautiful pattern and neutral tones of the artwork. After speaking with the staff about the range I decided to reach out to Kamilya on Instagram. Kamilya was so kind and generous with her time and spoke about her influence and shared some pieces with me. We decided that Kamilya's Girliny Girlinyji Reef 2 (featured on The Block) and Mothers Love were the favourites and decided these would feature as part of our Snuggle Rug range. We've already had such a huge response to our collaboration that I'm sure this range will fly off our shelves.

Artist: Kamilya Lowana White
Kamilya Lowana White is an extraordinary Aboriginal artist whose creations reflect her deep connection to her heritage and the land. Raised in Naarm (Melbourne) on Wurundjeri Country, Kamilya’s roots are grounded in Kija Bardi culture, and her art is a modern expression of Aboriginal storytelling, family, and community ties. Her paintings are filled with narratives inspired by the land, relationships, and personal experiences, blending contemporary techniques with traditional elements. For Kamilya, art is a therapeutic way to connect with her cultural identity and share it with the world.
We are incredibly excited to collaborate with Studio Lowana on our Lowana - Girliny Girlinyji Reef 2, infuses the play mats with Kamilya’s storytelling and cultural reflections, creating pieces that are as meaningful as they are beautiful. This design was featured on the 2024 season of The Block 2024 in Kristian and Mimi's house. Each mat is a tribute to the strength of heritage and the importance of passing it on to the next generation.

Unpacking & Setup:

Expansion: Allow 48–72 hours for the rug to fully expand after unpacking.

Wrinkles: For smoothness, use a low-heat iron with a damp cotton towel over the rug or steam it.
**Note: Your rug has been vacuum-sealed for shipping and may take a several days to fully expand to its original shape and softness. We strongly recommend ironing on mid head with a damp cotton towel over the top to ensure most creases are removed. Please note; deeper creases may remain for a while however will reduce over time with use. **
